It has come to our attention that some guests who made reservations at Rise Hotel Osaka Kitashinchi through Booking.com (headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands) received messages directing them to a phishing site (*).

Booking.com uses email and chat to contact customers who have made reservations.
We do not ask for credit card information or request payment.
We would appreciate your attention to this matter.

 

Our response is to request a prompt report from Booking.com regarding the situation and the results of their investigation. We are currently investigating the details, but Booking.com has reported that there has been no breach of their critical backend systems or infrastructure.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and worry this may have caused our customers.

*A "phishing site" is a site that uses fraudulent methods to steal personal information and financial information.
This refers to a fake website that impersonates a real website.

Background of the Incident On December 20, 2023, our staff confirmed that some customers who had made accommodation reservations through Booking.com received messages containing URL links leading to phishing sites via the chat function of a system managed jointly by Booking.com and our company.
